  5. 1. Introduction
  6.  
  7. This is a small Applescript application that allows two people with two
  8. different e-mail addresses to share a Eudora on a single Macintosh
  9. Computer. Let us call the two users Jane and John, and let's assume that
  10. Jane is the primary user of the computer, and wants to let John access
  11. his e-mail on the same machine. They need, therefore, to install this
  12. application and follow the instructions.

  14. 2. Installation instructions
  15.  
  16. This distribution contains a single AS file, which is called "Eudora
  17. Share Installer." It will create all the necessary files to initiate the
  18. sharing, but it needs Eudora to be installed first (It should work with
  19. all versions from 1.4 on). Double-click on the "Eudora Share Installer."
  20. This will open the file, which is a text-only applescript. Click on the
  21. "run" Button; you will be prompted for the location of Eudora. Find it with the dialog box, click OK, a few seconds later you will be told that installation was
  22. successful. At this point, several things will have happened:

  24.     a) Two compiled scripts, called "Eudora 1" and "Eudora 2" will be on
  25.     your desktop. Double-click on each of them, and "Save as" say,
  26.     "Eudora Jane" and "Eudora John" respectively; save them as applications,
  27.     so you can execute them directly by double-clicking. Once this is done,
  28.     you can trash "Eudora 1" and "Eudora 2."

  30.     b) A new folder Called "Eudora Share" will be now on your System Folder.
  31.     Forget about it, and just leave it alone, since Eudora Share needs it.

  33. At this point, John needs to do the following: Double click on "Eudora John,"
  34. which will execute Eudora with Jane's settings; he needs to change all the
  35. settings to suit his preferences (most importantly, he needs to set up his e-mail address and name). He should also trash anything in the In and Out mailboxes; this will not affect Jane, since she has her own mailboxes.

From this point on, every time Jane needs to use e-mail, she double-clicks on "Eudora Jane," and when John needs it, he double-clicks on "Eudora John." Magically, they will find all settings, including the In and Out mailboxes, just as they left them before. Notice, however, that other mailboxes *will* be affected.
